A traveller who visited the colony in 1886 writes, “...In the centre of the village towers a magnificent church of finely-finished stone. It has a beautiful dome and a belfry...”

Some sources have preserved the year of its construction: “...they have a strongly-built stone church dating from 1854 A.D.”
