Location

The village lies 17 kilometres south-west of the district centre, at an altitude of 1,490 to 1,580 metres above sea level.

Historical Introduction

No records relating to Tapan have been preserved, but presumably, it was stripped of its Armenian population in the mid-18th century. The present-day Turkish settlement was established in the early 20th century, when some cattle-breeding tribes settled down in the site of the ancient Armenian village.
